Association sponsorship is one of the most important aspects of your non-dues revenue.
In this toolkit we want to share best practices for sponsorship kits from various trade associations.
Send us your sponsorship kit and we will post it for other to use.
I’ve always found that it’s important to help people understand their sponsorship is not an exact ROI (Return on Investment). It’s a buy in or investment to the mission of the organization and the good the organization does within the community and industry. You will find that if you have the “investment” conversation first the sponsorship is easier to have and get the best results.
I often lead with this quote from President Theodore Roosevelt “Every man owes a part of his time and money to the business or industry in which he is engaged. No man has a moral right to withhold his support from an organization that is striving to improve conditions within his sphere.”
It’s equally important to listen to sponsors and potential sponsors. Many will have great ides of their own on how they can partner with you for the best outcome for your members. Be fair and equal in your treatment of sponsors but leave sponsorship open at the top so you can act on great ideas.
